Possible treatments
Until recently, cartilage injuries were considered to be beyond treatment. However, depending on the patient’s age, the seriousness of the injury and the degree of activity, various therapies are now available. To determine the right treatment, it is important to distinguish between therapies that are aimed at recovery and a reduction of the complaints in a relatively short time frame, and treatments that strive towards a structural, long-term recovery of the joint function, ideally resulting from the recovery (regeneration) of the hyaline cartilage.
